Our Work
Advocacy
At Young Jewels, we believe in amplifying the voices of communities and advocating for meaningful changes through policy and legislation.
Our advocacy efforts focus on ensuring that decisions made by policymakers, government officials, private sector leaders, and influencers such as journalists and development agencies lead to real, impactful implementation. By engaging with key decision-makers, we work to create a positive change that touches people’s lives.
Focus Areas
Menstrual Health Management
In Kenya, 65% of women and girls cannot afford sanitary pads, and many experience stigma, shame, or a lack of safe spaces to manage menstruation.
Young Jewels is committed to addressing period poverty by providing comprehensive menstrual health education to girls, boys, parents, and communities. We aim to break the silence around menstruation, reduce stigma, and ensure that girls have access to the resources, sanitary products, and support they need to manage their periods with dignity and confidence.
Sexual Reproductive Health
Adolescents in Kenya face challenges accessing accurate sexual and reproductive health information, leading to increased risks of unintended pregnancies and sexually transmitted infections.
Young Jewels is dedicated to advocating for youth-friendly health services and ensuring adolescents can make informed choices. We focus on breaking down harmful gender norms, reducing the stigma surrounding adolescent sexuality, and creating an environment where young people can access the care and support they need to safeguard their reproductive health.
Climate Change Awareness
Climate change is an escalating issue in Kenya, contributing to extreme weather events like droughts, floods, and unpredictable rainfall. These changes threaten water and food security, as well as economic growth.
Young Jewels aims to educate adolescents about the importance of environmental conservation. By raising awareness and encouraging sustainable practices, such as tree planting, we empower youth to become environmental stewards and take an active role in combating the negative effects of climate change in their communities.
How we make a difference:
At Young Jewels, we address these key focus areas by:

- Community Engagement: Raising awareness at the grassroots level, engaging communities in discussions on key issues, and educating them about their role in driving change.
Stakeholder. - Collaboration: Actively participating in forums and technical working groups to ensure that the voices of adolescents and youth are represented in important decisions.
